This painting was from a trip I took to Scottsdale, AZ. My girlfriend and I just finished having a delicious lunch at an outdoor patio. We decided to go shopping along the Waterfront and check out the outdoor art festival happening there. I was inspired seeing this cute green dress ~its vibrant pop of color caught my eye along with her blond hair. The gesture and motion of this young woman reminded me of what we were doing too ~ as if she too were on vacation and enjoying the pace of her day.I liked the way the sun light made reflections on the figure. I wanted to abstract the environment to give a sense of motion with just a few peeks of color and an indication of her environment. Inspired by imagining what her story might be and how it could be similar to mine, this painting speaks to the fascination we have of “people watching” and a connection we feel with strangers that remind us of ourselves in some way.
